Professor Debbie Shawcross -Professor of Hepatology & Chronic Liver Failure and NIHR EME Chief Investigator (PROMISE Trial). 

Professor Michael Curtis - Senior Vice President (SVP) Academic. Oversight for, and co-ordination of, the academic activities of all nine faculties into a single role, with particular emphasis on cultivating inter-faculty and inter-disciplinary working, whilst fostering an environment which promotes innovation, empowerment, accountability and Faculty alignment with our single institutional strategy. 

A distinguished microbiologist, his publication record has been underpinned by competitive research funding totalling ca. £10 million from awarding bodies including the MRC, the Welcome Trust and the National Institutes of Health. 

Professor Luigi Nibali - Head of the Centre for Host-Microbiome Interactions. His research interests include genetics and microbial aetiopathogenesis & adjunctive antimicrobial therapy of periodontitis. 

Assistant Professor James Garnet - Reader in Microbial Structural Biology CHMI. Leads the Centre for Multiscale Biofilm Research. 


Dr Joanna Neves - The Neves lab has extensive experience in expanding and validating human mucosal organoids to provide an in-vitro system that promotes the generation of a large number of innate lymphoid cells in organoids (small intestine and colon).
